The latest home gaming console by Nintendo is the Wii. It is the fifth gaming console released by Nintendo, after the GameCube. One of the main features that make it different from other consoles is its one of a kind wireless remote control called the Wii Remote. It's an amazing pointing device with a movement detector that can locate movements in three dimensions or 3D. Another unique feature of this seventh generation console is its ability to connect to the internet in the standby mode. This way it receives automatic upgrades. This feature has been named WiiConnect24.

Since its launch in 2007, it has outsold all its major competitors like the Xbox 360 by Microsoft and PlayStation 3 by Sony. Its sale reached $30 million which was as much as sales of Xbox and PS3 put together and if you're considering to buy Wii then there might be stock issues because of the demand.

The groundbreaking handheld wireless remote control is designed in such a manner that it is highly motion sensitive. The console has a built-in Wi-Fi system that enables the player to avail many free internet services and to play online. Wii has been programmed to play all GameCube games and use its controllers.

Nintendo claims that Wii is aimed at a variety of people who Dsl Line have never experienced gaming before. That is what the name (pronounced as "we") aims at hitting home, that is,involving everyone in the gaming fraternity. It has been known that even senior people living in retirement homes have also purchased the game, thanks to a successful advertising campaign. And no other than Queen Elizabeth was reported by a UK Magazine to have played on the console.

The Wii is the smallest home gaming console offered by Nintendo to date. It measures almost the same as three CDs placed together. This makes it highly portable. As compared to Xbox and PS3 it stands as the lightest console.

The SD card, besides saving games, can also load photos and play customizable music during games from MP3s. The Wii Menu can navigate through various internet channels like Wii Shop, Forecast, and Mii Channel. Plans are underway to make more channels available. The remote functions via Bluetooth and allows for gestures to integrate with the game besides just the ordinary buttons.

There has been some criticism against the games offered by Wii as they are not as visually advance as the Xbox 360 ones but then they make up for incorporating flashy visuals by making the main features of the game more interesting and involving.

Another added benefit is the Parental Control option. In case a game that is given a higher credit than the one programmed is tried on the console, it will just not load it. This makes it safer for kids. It also restricts access to the internet.

Wii is the first home system that is 100% backward compatible. Later on, its competitors also integrated the technology into their consoles.

Wii is the best choice for hardcore gamers around the world who want to buy Wii games, for its one of a kind sensibility and cheaper price. Xbox 360 may offer higher graphics on its game and PS3 may offer most of the features of Wii, yet the former bets too much on the graphics of its games as compared to any other distinguishing feature and the latter happens to stand quite expensive next to Wii and has Aztec Adsl Modem gamers in its offer of gaming titles.
